Do You Need to See a Doctor?

When we were young, we thought we would live healthy indefinitely. Sadly, this simply isn’t true, as the passing years reveal to each of us.

This worries John Bradberry, as he actively encourages people to see their doctor when they display signs of being seriously ill instead of trying to tough it out.

Showing symptoms mentioned below? Call your doctor, or head to the hospital if you are suffering from any of the following conditions:

1) You are vomiting uncontrollably

You couldn’t say no to that week-old pizza – now you are paying the price, pledging your allegiance to the porcelain god.

There’s just one problem: you’ve been stuck there for hours, and your stomach won’t stop squeezing out its contents.

If you find yourself vomiting without end, it is a worrying symptom that a doctor needs to evaluate as soon as possible.

Dehydration is a real worry if you have been losing fluids through this activity for prolonged periods, and with food poisoning being a distinct possibility, a medical professional needs to see how dangerous your predicament really is.

Once they get to see you, treatments can be provided that will stop the puking and attack the underlying illness that is putting you through hell.

2)  You suffer from severe asthma or allergies

Got allergies or asthma?

While your symptoms are far from fun, you might be puzzled why a physician needs to evaluate you when they affect you in an especially rough way. After all, you already possess medicine or the inhalers you need, so what’s the big deal?

The danger is that if you develop a serious bacterial infection or virus, you might not realize it, as you might confuse their symptoms as being just another allergic reaction or an asthma attack.

Dismissing unwell feelings in this manner can expose you to a life threatening situation. When you develop symptoms that are severe, but just seem like another episode, seek medical attention, just to be on the safe side.

3) You can’t breathe

This might seem like a ‘duh’ symptom, but as we just discussed, you might think it is part of something you already have, and just wait for to resolve itself.

What if it doesn’t, though? Air means life – if you can’t get enough of it, your passages might not let anything through in due time.

If your congestion is more aggressive than what a cold virus would put you through, or if your airway doesn’t return to normal after deploying your inhaler, get to the hospital ASAP.

4) Your immune system is compromised

Are you 65 or older? Have kids under the age of 12 under your care? A life long smoker? Just had an operation? HIV positive or have AIDS?

If you or anyone you care for are in these categories, a simple infection may be no laughing matter.

If any infection or illness you contract is dragging on with its symptoms, or if they are aggressive, get over yourself and see a physician.
