How to get into Barbados

You can take a flight to Barbados from US, UK or Canada.  Once there, rent a taxi or hop into a bus or mini-bus from Sir Grantley Adam International Airport to travel to the coast. Alternatively, you could take one of the cruises to Bridgetown, Barbados.

Government operated blue buses or privately operated yellow buses can help you  travel across different locations on the island. Mini-vans and private taxis are also available, in case you do not want to take a bus.

Climate

Now that you are in the tropical region, you could expect warm and sunny days with generally cooler nights.  Average temperature during the day is about 30 degree Celsius. Presence of north-east trade winds ensures that the days are not intolerably hot. Evenings tend to turn cooler and more pleasant.

The island gets nine hours of sunshine in a day in the months of Jan to May, whereas the months from June to December get approximately eight hours of sunshine in a day. It usually rains during June to October.

Things to Do

There is a plethora of activities that can be undertaken in Barbados. You could explore the marine flora and fauna, sunken ships and many more as you go scuba diving. If you are too scared to dive, you could sign up for a submarine tour.  You could also choose one of the catamaran cruises that offer you an opportunity to snorkel with the sea turtles. Do not forget to visit the Harrison’s Caves. It is the number one tourist attraction in Barbados. You will simply be awed by this cave full of stalactites and stalagmites.  Barbados is known for producing some of the finest wines and rum. You could take a tour to Mount Gay Rum Distillery and enjoy tasting their famous rum.
