2. True Team Player
Being an effective leader also means being an effective team player. Remember the bigger picture here. You’re not there to simply dictate job tasks and offer criticism.
You’re there as a member of the team as well. Building leadership means asking yourself what you offer to the team. A good leader will lead by example.
Think about what type of behaviors you expect out of your team members and then model these behaviors/attitudes. Live out your own principles and expectations and watch how your team naturally follows suit.
3. Clear Vision of the Future
As a leader, you should also have a clear vision of what you want for the future of your business and your team. Share this vision with your team and then make sure you can communicate why it’s worth their time to invest in it. It’s also important to communicate this vision on a regular basis.
A great way to ensure everyone stays on track, including yourself, is to create a timeline. A well-written timeline will help everyone know where they’re supposed to be with the project on certain weeks or months.
