When suffering injuries due to your involvement in a car accident, you may find yourself unsure of the next step to take. Most individuals will first find themselves in the ER receiving immediate medical attention for their injuries. When there, you may find out that further care is needed in the form of rehabilitation. Generally speaking, rehab is performed outside of the hospital at a center such as the Central Florida Accident & Injury services center. Once at the center, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a team of professionals who specialize in specific rehab practices and whom are ready to help you get back on your feet.

What to do after a car accident

During your hospital visit or stay, the doctor or team of doctors that have worked with you will give you medical advice on what to do next. If rehabilitation is needed, they’ll recommend services and centers to contact, or will contact them for you in order to help you on your way. This is something that you’ll want to handle right away, even though your mind might be elsewhere, such as focusing on the pain you’re in. Once you’re in touch with the rehab center, they’ll develop a rehabilitation plan and accompanying timeline that should lead to a successful recovery. Most of the time you’ll also find that if more testing is needed, such as an MRI, the rehab center will work with the hospital to get that scheduled for you, helping to mak your life a little bit easier. They’ll also work with your attorney if you have one and any medical billing companies that are participating in your case. This means that not only will the center provide medical and physical services, but also those dealing with billing, insurance claims and other documentations.

What are the rehabilitation services that are available for you

Depending on what injuries have occurred, you’ll find that there are a variety of different rehabilitation services to choose from. Some of these services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and  chiropractic services. Some of these services include exercise as well, which is catered toward your particular rehabilitation plan.

How long do these services last

This all depends on the extent of your injuries and how many different ones you may have at one time. You may just need rehabilitation for a few weeks, or you may find that a few months or more are needed in order to ensure that you’re completely healed (or as much can be expected) before you no longer need any services.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try to avoid them, sometimes serious car accidents occur. Even more, sometimes they require a trip to the hospital followed by a need for rehabilitation services. Thankfully, the staff at rehabilitation centers are professionally trained to assist and guide you trough a successful rehab plan that should help you get back to your normal day to day routine as quickly as possible.
